NETTLE LEAVES

It is prized for it's use in slowing bleeds, and general detoxing properties, it can be found in many of the less common alchemicals lining a medic's shelf.

Smoke Leaf
Alchemist, common

Smoke leaf is an herb found in warm climates, known for its ability to be dried and smoked. The plant itself grows to 3 or 4 feet in height, consisting of a single thin but sturdy stalk producing broad and elongated leaves that can reach 8 inches in length.

These leaves are a vibrant green, dulling to a pale yellow as the plant ages. The Smoke leaf plant has a distinctive, slightly sweet aroma when crushed and the leaves have a soft, velvet-like texture. The plant also produces small white or pale yellow blossoms when it reaches maturity, each blossom containing reproductive seeds.

While Smoke leaf can be used recreationally, it does serve a medical purpose in that the relaxing effect is good for recovery and is rumored to aid the healing process. It can be prepared by drying and shredding the leaves and rolling the mix into paper or packing it into pipes, but the leaves can also simply be chewed to garner similar though lessened effects.

Spruce Sap
Alchemist, common

A sap collected from the spruce tree, surprisingly citrusy in scent. It's incredibly sticky, commonly used to seal wounds or create pills for more complex alchemicals.

Wormwood
Alchemist, common

A perennial reaching three feet, with gray green stems and feathery leaves, both covered in fine hairs. The herb is well known for claiming the shrubbery around it.

Known to aid in digestive issues and encourage bile productions. It is also able to cleanse the intestines of parasites or repel insects.

Venom Gland
Alchemist, common

When slain, a venom gland may be removed from giant spiders. This gland is located in the chelicerae of the beast, and is relatively easy to remove. The gland itself is no bigger than the average palm, weighing no more than half a pound. Care should be taken when handling the gland without gloves, especially if the gland has been damaged and is leaking its contents.

After the death of its host, the venom’s effectiveness begins to decay. Immediately following the death of the spider or the removal of the gland, the venom ceases to bring about complete paralysis making the creation of a lethal poison impossible. It does however retain the ability to numb a localized area of the body.

This has led to the venom being used to create a numbing salve that can ease pain in an area of the body without risking negative effects. If the poison is ingested, it will cause vomiting and diarrhea but no lasting negative effects.
