Common Metallury
This compendium will consist of all the currently known metals within Volaris. As more is discovered and researched this list will begin to grow to reflect the development made by the pioneers of the world.

Copper
Blacksmith, Ornamentalist, Common

A mundane ore that is tinted blueish green colour mixed in with orange hues. Craftsmen prefer to use this material for ornamentation of buildings and various cookware.

Iron
Blacksmith, Ornamentalist, Common

Stoney and creamy orange, this ore is mainly used for basic blacksmith work, lower-quality blades and armour, and any fixtures needed by the various craftsmen of Volaris.

Tin
Blacksmith, Ornamentalist, Common

Humorously known to miners as "poor man's iron", tin finds a use in common tableware when turned into pewter, but otherwise is reserved for alloying with copper to create stronger metals.

Uncommon Metallurgy

Bronze
Blacksmith, Ornamentalist, Uncommon

Bronze cannot be found naturally occurring within Volaris as an ore, instead existing as an alloy of tin and copper. Favoured by more proficient fighters, bronze is known to be overall better for armour and shields than iron. It is also featured in long standing statues and various ornamentation.

Silver
Blacksmith, Ornamentalist, Uncommon

Silver is a moderately rare and highly valued metal, known for its brilliant, reflective sheen and its versatility. Mined from veins deep within the earth it is commonly used in the crafting of jewelry, coins, and ceremonial artifacts.

Fulgurite
Blacksmith, Uncommon

The formation of Fulgurite is often found to be a mystery to most, though it is commonly believed that the material is formed by lightning storms striking intensely cold locations, freezing the lightning itself. Visually, the material is found in veins resembling the form of lightning; with a strikingly bright, white appearance that appears glassy.

If the material is taken and worked by a smith, it is found to be malleable akin to metal; and when formed into protective items such as shields, gauntlets, or boots the material has been shown to disperse lightning or other electrical dangers that strike its surface to the surrounding area, oftentimes dangerous to those around the wielder.

Fae Threads
Tailor, Uncommon

Fae Thread has many stories about it's discovery prior to the collapse. It was said to be the traditional hunting clothes of Sun Elves that was later adopted by the various human cultures. It is commonly referred to as "Elven Copper" by the older generation, though this name has slowly phased out of use.

The material itself is unlike regular ores one might find, being quite malleable in its unrefined state. Instead of blacksmiths, this ore is mainly used by tailors due to its similarity to actual threads and linen. Many hunters prefer to set traps made from these threads while some guard uniforms have the fabric tabards replaced entirely with fae thread.

Fae Thread itself is considered to be on par with bronze armour.

Heavenstone
Blacksmith, Uncommon

A glowing ore in its unrefined state, often mistaken for actual rocks. This material is said to be found in the deep recesses of caves, and is rumoured to be good luck amongst miners due to only finding it after their torches and lanterns go out.

After refinement heavenstone is called 'Elysium' as it transforms into a bright gilded metal. In both forms, this material generates a dim light source in a 5 block radius

Rare Metallurgy

Cobalt
Blacksmith, Ornamentalist, Rare

Cobalt is a moderately rare ore known for its striking blue hue. It is often used to create strong and durable alloys, particularly for weapons and armor that require both toughness and flexibility. Notably, it is mined as a powder and requires being alloyed for proper use.

Folium
Blacksmith, Rare

An interesting metal, unlike any other of its kind. This ore was said to be discovered by a group of Northern Humans prior to the collapse, who died before it could be collected. The name was given post-humorously after it was discovered that these miners chipped away at the vein until they had died of frostbite- the folly of man.

When impacted or damaged folium holds the property of reformation, requiring advanced blacksmithing techniques to properly forge with. It's incapable of holding an edge or complex shapes as the metal will reform to a natural state after an hour of use. This metal finds it's use solely in blunt weapons and shields that can be easily cast in a mould.

Steel
Blacksmith, Ornamentalist, Rare

Where tin is known as 'poor man's iron', steel can be called 'rich man's bronze'. It is considered to be the highest quality mundane metal, well used in armour, weapons, and within noble kitchens

Shadow Iron
Blacksmith, Rare

An enigmatic metal, characterized by its near black colour. It is near impossible to within cave systems due to its innate colouration causing it to blend into unlit surroundings.

Shadow Iron itself is prized for this property, as scholars have found that it appears faintly transparent around edges and curves in dim and darker areas. Some say it is an assassin's best friend.
