Common Gemstones
This compendium will consist of all the currently known gems within Volaris. As more is discovered and researched this list will begin to grow to reflect the development made by the pioneers of the world.

Quartz
Ornamentalist, common

A hard crystalline structure that comes in many different varieties of gemstones, prized for being easy to work with and keep clean. It comes in a variety of colours, each of the same rarity.

Citrine
Ornamentalist, common

A gemstone that varies from soft yellows to striking oranges, just as a counterpart to Benitoite. It is oddly warm to the touch, imploring those who work with it to experiment.

Benitoite
Ornamentalist, common

A deep and rich coloured gem in shades of blues and greys. Some say it glows softly in the night but others claim it holds a surface that is reflective like no other. It is oddly cold to the touch, imploring those who work with it to experiment.

Uncommon Gemstones

Hematite
Ornamentalist, uncommon

A gem said to resemble iron in all but workability, holding a reddish hue of unrefinement. It is prized within the medical field for it's rumored healing properties, but requires a steady and delicate hand to create anything usable with it.

Saltwater Pearl
Ornamentalist, uncommon

Though uncommon, this precious good can sometimes be found on the shores of Sanctuary, washed up and buried within the sands and clams. Low quality pearls are misshaped, though their size and circumference does not change the belief held by the denizens of Volaris. Jewelry made with pearls are often gifted to those who are recovering from deadly illnesses and wounds, said to purge disease from returning.

Rare Gemstones

Amethyst
Ornamentalist, rare

A rare variety of quartz that ranges from pale lavender to deep violets, this gem is often prized by nobility within Sanctuary as a sign of status and for it's comparison to the royal family.

Diamond
Ornamentalist, rare

A clear gemstone, exceptionally hard when compared to any other gem. It bears an amazing reflective property, but like most gems holds little value outside of luxury goods.

Jade
Ornamentalist, rare

This stone bears a green shade similar to the ranges of an amethyst, though it is believed that the quality comes from how opaque the gem can become. It is popular amongst soothsayers, enkindled, and faithful for it's apparent calming qualities, though it is unknown if there is any basis to this belief.
